Like the early philosophers and theologians before us, we are seeking to nourish our souls, discover the truth, and live in the world, but not of it. Welcome to the Magnus Podcast where John Johnson and Larissa Bianco hope to connect contemporary thinkers to conversations from the catacombs in the classical, Christian tradition before us. The Magnus Podcast is a production of the Albertus Magnus Institute, Inc. Dedicated to the promotion of another sort of learning, the Albertus Magnus Institute seeks to invite all into the truth, ”Omnes ad Veritatem.”

Ep. 005 - How Can Doctrine Change? Bernhard Blankenhorn.
Wednesday Sep 11, 2019
Wednesday Sep 11, 2019
Fr. Bernhard Blankenhorn is a professor of theology at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome (also known as the Angelicum). This live presentation will clarify much of the murkiness surrounding the upcoming Synod on the Amazon, as well as give a survey of different criteria by which pastors, theologians and the lay faithful seek to determine the possibilities and limits of doctrinal development. A proper understanding of the nature of revelation and tradition and of the authentic function of the Magisterium will help the person in the pew to better navigate some of the debates in the Church today.
