Like the early philosophers and theologians before us, we are seeking to nourish our souls, discover the truth, and live in the world, but not of it. Welcome to the Magnus Podcast where John Johnson and Larissa Bianco hope to connect contemporary thinkers to conversations from the catacombs in the classical, Christian tradition before us. The Magnus Podcast is a production of the Albertus Magnus Institute, Inc. Dedicated to the promotion of another sort of learning, the Albertus Magnus Institute seeks to invite all into the truth, ”Omnes ad Veritatem.”

In this first installment of our series highlighting the great work being done at Thomas Aquinas College, we sit down with Dr. Travis Cooper who discusses the anthropology at work in the Homeric Epic, themes in the Iliad and the Odyssey, Christian prefigurements, the confluence of epic literature throughout the Tradition, and the epic-ness of Dante and Beowulf. He also provides some helpful starting points for someone looking to read Homer for the first time. Be sure to subscribe as we'll be releasing more interviews with TAC faculty in the coming weeks.
Share it if you like it. November 15, on the Feast of St. Albert the Great, we take the next step in our mission to liberate the liberal arts at MagnusInstitute.org.

Great discussion! I don't know if it is my academic destitution or poor memory, but I don't recall being taught in school that the Illiad is a story about ourselves. I'm motivated to dust off the old Homer and discover something new from something old. Thank you gentlemen!
